Imo, gen 1 has some of the worst offenders when it comes to designs that are a step down from the previous evolution. Machamp and Golem, for example. I know what they were going for with tying the two evolutions together by having Graveler and Machoke swap extra arms and reptilian features, but it just doesn’t work. And I know I’m gonna get a lot of flak for this one, but gengar is a MAJOR step down from Haunter. And I’m not really sure if this counts, but I really wish that they had either went with Wartortles originally planned evolution instead of Blastoise, or replaced Wartortle with Blastoise’s original pre-evo, with minor tweaks to make it less baby-looking. I don’t necessarily prefer one design over the other, I just wish there was more consistency in the line.

As someone who grew up playing Yellow. I had no issue with ditching my starting Pokemon ASAP. Now I always ditch my starter. If Pokemon ditched the abilities Overgrow, Torrent, and Blaze. THAN I might start using them again.

1. Removing megas 2. Making pokemon open world when they clearly don't know how to make an open world game 3. Locking the SV trainer into just a handful of outfits, so most of the customization options look terrible. 4. Only making one dragon/ghost line in gen 1, so Agatha and Lance couldn't have proper teams. 5. Making tms breakable again so we have to grind annoying raids/use the pointless crafting system 6.
